We'd love to know about your community creations! Take a moment to say hi to the community in the comments. If fact, I'll start you all off!
Hi!!!! HELLOOOO!! I'm Jay Preston! I grew up just south of Boston and studied theater at Dean College and Bridgewater State. I traveled New England for many years with the Improv troupe Speed of Thought Players. I spent 4 years working at The Medieval Manor in Boston before traveling the country for two years performing children's theater. Then I was cast in Pirates of The Caribbean 3 and came to Los Angeles in 2006 for the On-Camera world. 4 year later I found a love behind the mic in 2010. I consider myself a true actor through and through who loves to collaborate with creatives, directors and producers. I've also created some pretty incredible resources for the VO Community... Like this one! Below is a list of some others!
VO Weekly Workout is a joint venture between voice actors Tim Friedlander of the Gardner | Collective Workout Groups, Jay Preston founder of the Voice Over Collective, and the legendary (taken too soon from us) voice actor and VO Educator Brad Venable. This is a safe place where actors get a chance to hone their VO muscles and give their best 1 or 2 takes on a script provided by an incredible leader of the industry. Agents, Casting Directors, Voice Directors and more join us twice a month, all year long. An inexpensive but invaluable way to make connections, get heard, practice and make the most of your vo career. All online, all the time.
The Voice Over Industry's Oldest Publication since 1988. The VORG is an ever-expanding data base for all things voice over. From agents to recording studios, training, casting and voice over rates, you'll find it all here. Jay Preston was given the opportunity to take over creative direction and publication of this incredible resource in April of 2022. He brought aboard his long time friend and collaborator Tim Friedlander and together they built a team to bring The VORG into the latest century. What once just covered LA and NY, the VORG will expand to the rest of the US in 2023. The website is about to get a huge overhaul and the Voice Over Resource Guide will once again become THE go to spot for resources and information for all the recording and performing industry.
